Course Description:

There are times that clients could better benefit from a longer EMDR session or sessions. There are several clinical considerations for more intensive EMDR therapy sessions such as clinical appropriateness, client fit, presenting symptoms, and treatment goals that must be taken into account. This training identifies the evidence based practices of intensive EMDR therapy treatment as well as outlines how to screen for appropriateness then structure Intensive EMDR therapy sessions.

Intended Audience:

This course is an advanced course for EMDR trained Therapists. It is appropriate for psychologists, social workers, MFT’s, counselors, interns, and pastoral counselors who have been trained in basic EMDR Therapy.

Trainer Bio:

Alice is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (TN LMFT #824) who practices in the Middle Tennessee area. She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and she holds a Master of Public Health degree as well. She has spent over 15 years studying and working within the psychology and sociology fields.

Her practice focus has centered around complex trauma, grief, and attachment wounding.

Alice has been certified in EMDR for 13 years, an EMRIA consultant for 10 years, and an EMDR trainer for 8 years.

  • Personal Transformation Institute (PTI) EMDR trainer 

  • AAMFT approved supervisor

9:30-10:00 – Protocols for Intensive EMDR Therapy

10:00-10:30 – Screening Client Appropriateness for Intensive EMDR Therapy

10:30-11:00 – Goal Setting and Structuring Intensive EMDR Therapy

11:00-11:15 – Break

11:15-12:00 – A Review of the 8 phases of EMDR Therapy through the lens of Intensive EMDR Therapy

12:00-12:30 – Alternative Protocols for Complex Trauma

12:30-12:45 – Case Example

12:45 – 1:00 – Summary and Question/Answer
